I am working at stage 7 for ratios and proportions because I use a range of multiplication and division strategies to estimate answers and solve problems with fractions, proportions, and ratios. To ge to stage 8, I need to be able to choose appropiately from a broad range of mental strategies to estimate answers and solve problems involving fractions, proportions, and ratios. These strategies involve using common factors, re-unitising of fractions, decimals and percentages, finding relationships between and within ratios and simple rates.
